Raisin and woody aromas, very subtle and light, but if you take the time, distinct notes of honey emerge, with touch of almond and sandalwood, followed by a finishing flourish of red fruits. Close to lake Maracaibo, a host of villages cling to the fertile land of west Venezuela with its extraordinary variety of flora and fauna. Amidst the fruity scent of mangoes, papayas and plantain bananas, men work the plantation to harvest the best Criollos cocoa beans in Venezuela. From these rare pods springs the extraordinary cocoa used to craft this fine 64% cocoa bittersweet chocolate. *Check out the other chocolates at The Meadow on Amazon! The 2005 vintage is the best of the three available, in my opinion; but, if you're reluctant to buy something that isn't "fresh" the other two from '06 and '07 are exquisite, too. If you're passionate about serious chocolate (i.e. not Godiva and its ilk) check out my blog: [...]
