 Bacon and Chocolate Lovers Unite! Feb 07, 2008
Having heard about a childhood favorite of a Canadian friend of mine (chocolate chip bacon cookies), I was less afraid when I encountered this Frankenstein-like creation at my local grocery store. I took the plunge, paying a 200% chocolate bar premium for the novelty of it, and wasn't disappointed. It was salty, sweet and unlike anything I'd had before (except maybe the occasional drizzle of maple syrup that winds up on your bacon during a pancake breakfast).
WARNING: You'll get strange looks from the checkout clerks when buying these bacon bars, but the brief societal disapproval is well worth the reward.

When I stumbled across this confection at a local Whole Foods Market, I was a bit concerned. Bacon and chocolate? Together? This cannot be! You can't mix pork fat with cacao! There is no way this can be a good thing. So, of course, I had to buy one and confirm for myself how horrible this concept was.
To my surprise, the bacon bar is FANTASTIC. It's a quirky mix of salty, smoky and sweet. You've probably never had anything like it, nor thought you would ever want to try it. In fact, the bacon bar is so good that it's apparently caught on with others.
In return trips to Whole Foods it took me almost a full month to find another - the clerk telling me that out of the entire Vosges line, the bacon bar is the one they can't keep in stock. Try it yourself today and see why!
